The Emotions of Nature

This poesy talks about nature and how it is related to the emotions of life, death, and romance. This metrical composition contains many different symbols for different emotions. For example, Thanatopsis is a greek morality symbolizing death. In this poem it says To him who in the love of spirit holds / Communion with / her visible forms, she speaks / A various language; for his gayer mins / She has a voice of gladness, and a smile / And eloquence of beauty, and she glides / Into his darker musings, with a low / And healing sympathy, that steals away / Their sharpness, ere he is aware. When panoramas / Of the last bitter bit come like a blight / over thy spirit, and grimy images / Of the stern agony, and shroud, and p tout ensemble, / And breathless darkness, and the narrow house, / forge thee to shudder and bob up sick at nub(lines 1-13). This poem reminds me of when I go into the woods with my dog Toby. When I am out on that point I broadside the many different feelings nature portrays. For example, in that location is rapture and playfulness as the song birds fly and play, in that location is passion as the squirrels are fighting over a nut, and there is the sadness of the dead bunny being eaten by ants and the decay tree lying on the ground.

This poem as wholesome says, Yet there to thine eternal resting place/ shalt thou hit alone, nor couldst thou wish/ couch more magnificent. Thou shalt delusion down/ with patriarchs of the infant world-with kings,/ the powerful of the hide out-the wise, the good,/ fair forms, and greyish seers of ages past,/ all in one mighty sepulcher (31-37).
